Alex from Cherry Blossom Weddings had a great time helping Carolina and James plan their July 10th wedding at the Newseum. Luck was with the couple as the gloomy skies opened up and the heat wave came to a pause for this joyous occasion. They could not have asked for a more perfect backdrop for the ceremony. The couple was married on the balcony of the Newseum with the picturesque Capitol Building behind them. Following the ceremony, guests headed down to cocktail hour where they picked up their escort cards surrounding an ice sculpture of the Capitol Building! As guests entered the reception, they were able to grab some sweets from the all night candy bar complete with a 5ft replica of the Washington monument! After a tasty buffet dinner, guests filled the dance floor and enjoyed the sounds of Raggs and the All Stars. Thank you to Freed Photography for the photos.

Alex from Cherry Blossom Weddings & Events had the pleasure of helping Matt & Sara make their special day a huge success. The couple was married on May 15, 2010 in one of the most beautiful churches in Washington, DC. And although the National Cathedral was open to the public, the ceremony had 160 of the bride and grooms friends and family making it feel quite intimate. The guests continued on to the National Museum of Women in the Arts for the reception while the bridal party used the gorgeous weather to their advantage with more photos at the Lincoln Monument. After a tasty meal catered by Ridgewells, the guests danced the night away to Retrospect. Following the nights events, the bride and groom left in a classic Rolls Royce. Newlyweds and new doctors, Brittany & Nick, have accomplished a lot over the years with some of the most exciting recently! A few weeks before their nuptials, they both graduated medical school, bought a new house, a new car and after dating for several years, were ready to get married. Alex from Cherry Blossom Weddings and Events helped the couple’s special day come together as the ceremony took place at the stunning Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown, followed by a fun and beautiful reception at the Fairmont. Cindy and Jared were married in the gardens at River Farm in Alexandria on May 17, 2008. Their guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the lawn overlooking the Potomac River, dinner under the tent and dancing the night away inside the ballroom. Although the forecast called for rain, the day could not have been more beautiful. Her colors were navy and green and complimented the historical mansion beautifully. With the cooperation of mother nature and the arrival of perfect weather for Memorial Day, we had an absolutely perfect wedding for Chaeli and Jeff at the DC Arboretum and the Odyssey Cruise Ship.  Here are some fun pics to check out the day's fun.

Who would have guessed so much green was in DC?   I visited the National Arboretum this past weekend.  The weather was gorgeous everything was in bloom and of course the pollen was in full force. 

Not only is the Arboretum the U.S. Department of Agriculture's living museum, but it's also a great place for a picnic and even better… a wedding!

The scenery will take your breath away and there are unlimited photo opts for the bride and groom.  Even though your photographer has to obtain a permit to take photos and you have to pay a fee to rent the columns for a certain amount of time, I think the end result would be worth it.

These are just a few shots I took while I was there.  When you rent the Arboretum you are also required to rent a security guard, the security guard is mostly there to make sure you or your party are not damaging the grounds but they will also clear the area where the Columns are so you can get all your photos in with just the two of you!

While looking for vineyards for a client's wedding I came across Bluemont Vineyard.  It is Loudon County's newest vineyard and is nestled on an eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  The vineyard just opened in September of 2007.  What really sets this vineyard apart from others in the area is the gorgeous view.  This is an all-in-one venue that is perfect for rehearsal dinners, ceremonies, and receptions!  Bluemont provides their own catered menu from Fruit of the Vine Catering which offers a variety of menus to chose from and can be customized to suit your specific needs.  

I definitely recommend this venue for your next event.  Be sure to stop by "The Cellar" first for a tasting of their amazing wine selection.  My personal favorites were "The Donkey and "The Pig."

Alissa and Alex wanted to be married as close to home as possible and that's exactly what they did. They live in Roslyn but Iwo Jima which is also very close to Top of the Town, a venue that has spectacular views of DC. Just next to Iwo Jima is a park called Netherlands Carillion and they obtained a permit to conduct their wedding ceremony overlooking DC. They hired DC Rentals to bring in chairs for the guests and we decorated the site with just a few purple bows and petals.

Alex and Alissa wanted to do pictures before the wedding ceremony and met up for their first moment at Malcolm X park in Washington DC. After pictures, Alex, Alissa, their families and the bridal party made is back to the park where clouds were rolling in. They were lucky enough for the rain to hold off (for most of the night actually) and the ceremony went off without a hitch. Bailek's provided the guitarist for a more modern sound and Alissa's sister sang while the bride and her father walked down the aisle. 

Guests then made it up the hill to Top of the Town where Matters of Taste provided a hearty meal of different cuisines that Alissa and Alex requested such as Indian and Italian. Tables were decorated with purple infused glass vases Alissa found on sale at pottery barn for under $20 each. They were accented with white votive candles and menu cards on painted table easels from IKEA.
