Alex from Cherry Blossom Weddings had a great time helping Carolina and James plan their July 10th wedding at the Newseum. Luck was with the couple as the gloomy skies opened up and the heat wave came to a pause for this joyous occasion. They could not have asked for a more perfect backdrop for the ceremony. The couple was married on the balcony of the Newseum with the picturesque Capitol Building behind them. Following the ceremony, guests headed down to cocktail hour where they picked up their escort cards surrounding an ice sculpture of the Capitol Building! As guests entered the reception, they were able to grab some sweets from the all night candy bar complete with a 5ft replica of the Washington monument! After a tasty buffet dinner, guests filled the dance floor and enjoyed the sounds of Raggs and the All Stars. Thank you to Freed Photography for the photos.

Alex from Cherry Blossom Weddings & Events had the pleasure of helping Matt & Sara make their special day a huge success. The couple was married on May 15, 2010 in one of the most beautiful churches in Washington, DC. And although the National Cathedral was open to the public, the ceremony had 160 of the bride and grooms friends and family making it feel quite intimate. The guests continued on to the National Museum of Women in the Arts for the reception while the bridal party used the gorgeous weather to their advantage with more photos at the Lincoln Monument. After a tasty meal catered by Ridgewells, the guests danced the night away to Retrospect. Following the nights events, the bride and groom left in a classic Rolls Royce. Roshan and Ale have been one of the best couples Alex from Cherry Blossom Weddings has worked with yet. Not only are they the nicest people, but they are so in love and have a general love of life. The couple always seems to be smiling and with smiles like theirs, it’s quite contagious. The bride chose colors of fuchsia and bright orange which fit perfectly with their theme of ‘Love is Sweet’. Ale wanted a venue that was nothing less then amazing. They ended up at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium for their reception and the fun colors only made the venue look more amazing than it already is. To back up a bit, Roshan & Ale tied the knot at St. Stephen Martyr on Pennsylvania Ave which is a hidden gem of a church. All the ladies bouquets had some sweets tied in and the bright colors looked spectacular. For the main event, the bride walked down the aisle with her father as the Steele Drums played ‘Ave Maria’. Back at the reception, the guests enjoyed a mix of traditional Columbian and Trinidadian appetizers with a tasty American dinner. Once dancing started, it didn’t stop. Guests took short breaks to relax in the lounge or grab another cocktail at the glowing hot pink bar. Congratulations to one of life’s sweetest couples, Roshan and Ale!

Newlyweds and new doctors, Brittany & Nick, have accomplished a lot over the years with some of the most exciting recently! A few weeks before their nuptials, they both graduated medical school, bought a new house, a new car and after dating for several years, were ready to get married. Alex from Cherry Blossom Weddings and Events helped the couple’s special day come together as the ceremony took place at the stunning Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown, followed by a fun and beautiful reception at the Fairmont. Cindy and Jared were married in the gardens at River Farm in Alexandria on May 17, 2008. Their guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the lawn overlooking the Potomac River, dinner under the tent and dancing the night away inside the ballroom. Although the forecast called for rain, the day could not have been more beautiful. Her colors were navy and green and complimented the historical mansion beautifully. Chantal recently attended the wedding of her dear friend Evan and loved the way they carried the theme of bright colors throughout the event.  A simple, elegant and cost affordable way to add some color to the tables, regardless of what color your flowers are, is to add ribbons and decorate the inside of the vases, even with fruit, as shown below.

And they carried out the gerber daisy theme with simple and cute cocktail reception decorations…

Try Renting a Photobooth!

I ran into this company at the bridal show a couple weekends ago called, "Party Booths Digital Photobooth Rentals."

This isn't the same as having your picture taken while you sign the guestbook.  Guest can actually step inside the booth make funny or serious poses.  The images are saved onto the computer and printed out as an index card with 4 photos or 1 photo on a sheet of paper. Photos are also posted to the website within 2-5 business days for your guest to view.
